Michigan Youth Flag Football and Cheer thanks all those who dedicate their time and volunteer to coach a cheer team! 

All recreational cheer teams are coached by trained volunteers! Volunteer coaching positions are highly coveted positions with many of our coaches returning from season to season!

If you or someone you know would be interested in volunteering to coach a cheer team please see the below information: 

• All Michigan Youth Flag Football volunteers must pass the required background check.
• Each cheer community employs an MYFF Cheer Staff member (Cheer Team Supervisor) onsite each game day to provide additional cheer support to coaches and cheer teams throughout the season. The Cheer Team Supervisor has extensive cheer experience and is also familiar with the MYFF youth sports program in general.
• Cheer material for each season is created by the MYFF Cheer Staff and distributed to Recreational Cheer Coaches.  A coach’s meeting and training is scheduled prior to the start of the season. Material is distributed for the season, all questions are answered and a detailed explanation of expectations is provided.  In addition, the scheduled preseason practice is to serve as a hands-on training to allow volunteer coaches to work with their Cheer Team Supervisor and meet the cheer team prior to the start of the season.
• Each team will be assigned one volunteer head and one volunteer assistant cheer coach.
• Volunteer coaches are expected to be at and participate in all of the scheduled practices and games during the season.
• Some additional time may be required each week to learn the cheer material prior to the week’s practice.

Communication is encouraged between volunteer coaches and cheer families throughout the season. However, the MYFF Cheer Staff sends out weekly correspondence to inform all cheer families of important information throughout the season. 

Support from the MYFF Cheer Staff is available to all volunteer coaches throughout the season. We want this experience to be enjoyable for you as well as your cheerleader! Past cheer experience is not required as all material is provided to you.

If you'd like to volunteer this season: 
During the online registration process please select the volunteer option that corresponds with the program your child is signed up for. You will be prompted to fill in the necessary information required to run the mandatory background check. After the registration deadline (March 1, 2013) you will be contacted by a member of the MYFF office staff notifying you if you have been selected to coach a team this season!  

Already register your child? No problem! You can log back into your account at any time and "Add A Volunteer Role."
